Elizabeth; Thanks for keeping us up to speed. As you've noticed, we're a mixed ) ( or, rather, a mixed-up ) bunch, here. But we do offer a lot of experience about what is, and is not, possible for someone who has a visual impairment. Age is no barrier - the very fact that you're online proves that. I'm pleased to know you're involved in running craft groups: I've been involved in running a blind club, which is composed of complete lunatics - myself excluded, naturally - for twenty five years now. It is amazing to see just exactly what we can do, given a little encouragement. Even those like yourself, who lose their vision later in life are taking part in things they never thought possible. So that's what we're here for; amid the insanity of the forum, you'll find advice, hints, tips and ideas that will help you in your craft class and your daily living. Read Darren's stuff - he knows a bit about some of the aids that might help you, as does Vanessa. Lots of us, Phyllis, for example, are really good at crafts; they form a mini support group here which will help you. So, again, well done! I enjoy reading your posts, and I hope you enjoy reading ours. I am not contributing nuch myself at present but I am working on a short autbiograohical short story which I shall send when it is finished Unfortunately I have both sight and hearing problems so I can only use my computor for short spells at a time. I am one of these elderly folk trying to keep up with the modern age and desperately anxious not to be a nuisance to younger folk.I have friends and a caring family but I am alone (not lonely) fot much of the time as I have serious mobility problems. However I am still managing to look after myself; although I do have help with shopping and housework Classic fm, raio 4 and the rnib talking book service help and I also run two small monthly groups for Bolton U.3/A One a craft group making our own birthday cards and the other a group fot visually inpaired members. We share and discuss audio books, write reminiscences and watch dvds of general interest on my large TV screen. With you all in spirit. I have enjoyed writing this. I am now going to spend an hour or so re- conditioning Christmas cards for my daughter to sell at their church Christmas Fair in aid of families in Zimbabwe where she worked for several years training black students to be teachers. I have to do them early as she lives in Hertfordshire and they have to be ready for her to take back next time she visits me. Love Elizabeth ----- No virus found in this message.
