Dear Gardeners,
We seem to have a problem with dumping, both by gardeners, and by others.
1. We are trying to clear and clean up the hill on the south end of the east
garden, eventually getting to where it can all be mowed. However, since I
mowed it last week, a gardener thought it should be a dump instead, and dumped
a large pile of dirt and debris there, right on the edge of the newly mowed
area. I would appreciate it if whoever dumped this removed it so I can
continue to mow. (see attached picture). We do have a dirt pile by the woods
where good soil can be deposited/composted. Ask me and I will show you where.
1. Someone, I think a contractor for one of the condominium associations,
dumped railroad ties and other debris next to the lower pile of wood chips,
where GVCA stores the tree branches we clean up and turn into woodchips each
year. If anyone saw who did it, please let us know.
1. IF you see anyone by the gardens or on the gravel road who you suspect
does not belong, PLEASE WRITE DOWN OR TAKE A PICTURE OF THEIR LICENCE NUMBER so
if we find they did dump or steal, we can get the police to do something about
it. ( we have had people from outside greenwood try to steal tiles before, so
it is not always dumping.)
1. I noticed that someone dumped some of their old boards by the hale bales
and wood chips. The idea is for the gardeners to use up the hay and wood
chips, with the area going back to lawn afterwards. This is not a place to
dump debris. Gardeners are responsible for removing their own trash, GVCA
property should not be used as a dump. If you have boards, dirt or other items
you would like to give to the other gardeners, use this e-mail list to arrange
it.
Tiles
The tiles under the electrical tower are property of GVCA, stored there for
future projects, such as finishing the new gate on the west garden and creating
a new patio up by the lake.
I don't mind if Gardeners want to borrow some to use in their garden, but there
are conditions:
1. NO BREAKING TILES. There are enough tiles already broken that you can
use, we want to conserve as many whole tiles as we can.
2. Prepare a level base. These tiles do break easily if not properly
supported. (SEE #1)
3. Tiles are only on loan. If we are doing a project and there are not
enough tiles under the towers, we may need to use the tiles you have borrowed.
We will try to avoid this a much as possible, but we will take the best tiles
first, so that is incentive for you to use the worst tiles and leave the good
tiles for GVCA.
