Voter turn-out hasn't been great on John Wandling's request for input on whether we should wrap up the fall series as it stands, or schedule the final make-up this Saturday and launch the frostbite series this Sunday. (John's email follows.) George Tatum offered a third, intriguing alternative. Make this week-end race a super race by having a single race on Sunday be the final fall series AND first of the frostbite. Not exactly comprehended in Sailing Rules, but could resolve the challenge of recruiting crews for two days' racing. So, let's have it. A) Fall series is over; Sunday is race one of frostbite. B) It ain't over 'till it's over. Wrap up Fall series Saturday, begin frostbite Sunday. C) Super race on Sunday double counts to wrap up Fall, launch frostbite. Chicago voting rules apply. If you already voted once, you can vote again, since there's now a C alternative. White Shoals counting rules apply. No boat gets more than one vote. If you can't remember what started all of this, John's email follows. Input by end of day tomorrow, please. /Rick -----Original Message----- From: gpsbug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:gpsbug-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of john Sent: Sunday, October 24, 2004 10:21 AM To: gpsbug@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [gpsbug] Race Cancelled Today - Decision on Make-up Folks, This fall series seems doomed! Looks like no wind and rain pretty much all day, so I have decided to bag this one. But I need help on deciding a make-up. I don't want to make this decision myself, as Rebecca J would move up one slot if we finished the series with just four races. If we do a make-up, it will have to be this coming Saturday, as frostbite starts Sunday. Right now, Anam Cara is first, Recovery second, and Rebecca J third. If we end the series here, and take one throw out. We end up with Anam Cara firs, Rebecca J second, and Recovery third. On the other hand, if we have a make-up, there could be a number of changes in finish order. Since Rebecca J is involved, I would appreciate a vote on whether or not to have a make-up on Saturday. To ensure impartiality, I ask you to submit your votes to Rick Bodson (RickBodson@xxxxxxxxxxx), and to let him know by close of business Wednesday. Rick can publicize the results in time for us to get crew, etc. Thanks, John
