Hello, Mike,
Y'all remember back in the dark ages when we all were running DR DOS? The operating system couldn't handle more than 64 kb of RAM. Then along came the 8086 processor, with its 16 bit wide bus and DR's CP/M-86 operating system, and suddenly, with some clever programming, it could handle a whole 2 MB of RAM. Of course, back in those days, that much RAM had to have 2 large 10 inch square boards to put all that RAM on. Then came Windows 95 and soon after Windows 98. I never used W95, so don't know how much RAM it could handle, but Windows 98 was restricted to 16 MB of RAM unless you went FAT 32, then you could get a max of 32 MB per partition of your hard drive.

What all this monolog is leading up to is how much RAM is that PK operating system comfortable with? I know, I know, that flash card isn't a RAM, but does the OS know it? Maybe 8GB looks like a bottomless and vast void that cannot be addressed in its entirety. In order to address every space in that 8GB card takes a 34 bit word. Kind of long, don't you think?

Just a thought

Peggy,

There is no way to get the card working in the PK or even in a computer.

I have advised HumanWare of this problem and hopefully they will work on it at some point. It is also possible that this problem happens with other PDAs and the disk manufacturer will make it more reliable.

Mike, does it happen even if you remove the card from the unit? What a bummer!
