        Brownback Approval In The Dumps

In a poll released this week by Public Policy Polling, 52% of Kansans
indicated that they disapproved of the job Governor Sam Brownback is doing as
governor of Kansas.

"Kansans are common sense people who can see the disastrous consequences
of Governor Brownback's policies," KDP Chair Joan Wagnon said. "Kansans are
waking up to the fact that Governor Brownback is raising taxes on middle- and
lower-income Kansans to pay for tax breaks for his wealthy supporters. This
poll is proof that Kansans see through the fairy tale Brownback is spinning and
understand his policies will hurt Kansas students, Kansas workers, and Kansas
families."

Some of the other more interesting findings of the PPP poll: "Brownback’s
plan to phase out the state’s income tax is almost as unpopular as he is, with
48% of voters opposed and 37% supportive. 65% of moderates and 56% of
independents oppose the plan. Even 34% of somewhat conservative voters and 28%
of Republicans are opposed to the proposal to overhaul the income tax."

      Remembering Beth Bradrick,
Co-Founder Of The D Wild Ones

The Kansas Democratic Party lost an invaluable and irreplaceable member
this week when Beth Bradrick, co-founder of the D Wild Ones and a lifelong
champion of the KDP, passed away at Sunset Manor In Frontenac, Kansas on
Monday, February 25 surrounded by her immediate family. The KDP and Kansas are
stronger because of Dr. Bradrick's energy and commitment and she will be deeply
missed in southeast Kansas and in the Kansas Democratic Party.
