You would simply enter the name of the port such as lpt1, com2, or usb001.

Your example for Copyto assumes both machines are on a network. Can it be set
up for the situation where there is a single computer and the embosser is
connected by USB, probably using a USB to serial or parallel adapter? If so,
what would you put in the install for paths? I'm assuming again that the
embosser would have already been set up on the machine to be known to Windows
as a generic text printer.

Hi,

We do offer our CopyTo utility. When you run the installer, it prompts you
for a path or drive name.

For example, let's say you have a computer on your network called Mozart.
And let's say that you call your embosser Juliet.

Type the following into the prompt displayed by the CopyTo installation
program. Note the backslash characters:
\\mozart\juliet

Once installed, you can right-click on a file name, choose the "Send to"
option, and CopyTo sends the formatted braille to that port. The file could
have an extension of .gf, lbrf, .txt, or anything else.

You can download this free utility from:
www.dancingdots.com/main/sampletranscriptions.htm
Just look for the link for "CopyTo".

I experimented with trying to set CopyTo to copy to a thumb drive defined as
h:\ but it seems not to work. Albert Milani of Dancing Dots, who created
this handy utility, might comment here. Perhaps I am doing something wrong.

I do know that you can configure GOODFEEL's "Floppy/Special" option to send
your braille output from GOODFEEL to any particular drive.

Go to Start Menu | All Programs | GOODFEEL
And choose the Configuration File entry on the GOODFEEL submenu.

Your GOODFEEL Configuration file will open.

Find the line that says:
FloppySpecial=A:

And change the drive a to the name of the drive that you want to use.

Save your file.

Now, choose "Floppy/Special" from the Braille Destination dialog of GOODFEEL
and your formatted output file will be written to that drive.

HTH,
Bill

USB makes things more complicated. I don't think there is any way to "pipe"
directly to a USB port. So you probably have to find something that will
send the file out the way Goodfeel and DBT do to your generic printer.

Hello,
Using command prompt isn't old fashioned, that is basically what a
program does anyways... But I couldn't even get the copy to work. I'm
not quite sure what the copy command does, but I could write an
application that could use copy to a USB port if I could figure out how
it is supposed to work. That is really easy!
Thanks,

Brandon Keith Biggs
