Hello Peter, Thanks for the explanation and giving the users a chance to voice opinions. Personally, I prefer the second type of tree displays that you discussed:) preferably integrated with the board in the same window. Most of the time, I have the board window maximized and I do not like having to switch to another window that displays the tree. It would be interesting to hear from other users also. Seeing the information that is displayed with the tree, the user should be able to home in directly on the part of the tree that is of interest. I like the screen shot that you included. I share your opinion about the Smartgo tree display. My problem with that is the way it unfolds and the inability to see enough info on the display. I do not like to click too many times and prefer to see as much info as possible with the least number of clicks. In fact, the tree display is the only reason why I do not use Smartgo. Regards... Something I definately want to add are node names, which are used by Kogo a lot and are quite useful. This did not make it into the tree demo as there is no way to add a node name in the demo anyways, so somewhat useless. I thought I display the node name in the tree window, maybe in the status bar or so. SGF has these labels like "good move" etc., you mentioned. gGo doesn't support those at all. I only know one SGF editor which displays these. I had a look at all the various SGF trees in editors I could get my hands on. I see two types of trees: The CGoban2-type, also used by Kombilo, with a horizontal graphical tree. I very much prefer this. The other is a vertical list with folded nodes (much like Windows explorer), used by MultiGo, SmartGo and most others. This shot should illustrate the second type best: http://www.zenhacker.com/Pictures/_tree.gif The second type can display more information than the first type, but in my opinion the first offers the better visualization. I never managed to get used to the SmartGo tree (its certainly good but too complex for my taste). Maybe I do both tree versions, the horizontal tree as an own window (this is hard to embed into the board window) and a smaller list showing node names etc. in the board sidebar. Don't know yet. That's why I'm asking, to do some brainstorming with the gGo users. :) Peter
