Gale, Mike is going to Philmont in June to take a training course titled
"Boy Scouts and Geocaching". Speaking for him :) this would be great
for him to do. I know he's done some demos for other scout units around
the council. =20

Last fall, when I first got involved in Scouting, a lady contacted SLAGA
about doing a geocaching demonstration for the scouts in her pack and it
just so happened to be my son's pack. Well, between Tim and me and the
scouts, we weren't able to get something scheduled and were going to
try this spring. Well, the lady, Traci, has come up with a date later
this year and I wanted to throw it out there and see if anyone would be
interested in helping. Here's her email to me:
"I have been looking for a time to integrate geocaching into scouts and
maybe I have finally found it....
October 7th, 4 districts (including ours) are getting together to have a
fun day at Beaumont, for the purpose of welcoming new scouts, and I am
sure the existing scouts are welcome as well. Each district will set up
2 stations or booths for the boys to participate in. I am the point
person for these booths. I would like 1 of them to be Geocaching. DO
you think you, and possible some members of SLAGA would help out? I am
trying to plan way ahead so it works with everyone's schedule. I would
like to hide lots of things and make it fun,as well as educational. I
would like to integrate to use of the compass, as well as GPS.
What do you think?"
I would be available on the 7th and will definitely help Traci. If
anyone else is interested, just let me know. Thanks.
