-   Thanks Rich and Jim. I was trying to come up with a way were I could use the USB on my laptop and then use the amp out on my entertainment center in the family room. I guess I'll be heading for Best Buy in the morning and try to find a cable with mini jacks on each end.  I have that Dazzle gadget and thought I might be able to use it.  Bernie

You need to play the tape through an amplifier or stereo and take
that output (audio out, not speaker out) and feed that into the
audio in of your sound card. Easy Cd creator or whatever you use
can take that signal and convert it to WAV or audio CD format and
record it to the CD.
    
 
 I just use the headphone jack on a small Walkman style tape player.
