- Mike here is an great explaination for the break down. Thanks DREICAT I\\\'m actually not surprised at all. Some people will be sceptical of the fee scale at first. I\\\'m happy to explain. The current session has a slightly augmented scale because the first 2 teams to signup were promotional (i.e. free). Basically, $50 per team goes into the prize fund. That is 1/3rd of the cost to signup. The trophy costs are also included in the league fee for both teams and individuals. These vary based on the type of trophy, but considering these need to be shipped out as well youre talking about $250 in trophy costs for 1 team of 10. This across 10 teams would be another $25 (for a new total of $75 per team of 10). There are also website development costs, administrative costs to run the league (peoples time) and yes, we are making some profit. Much of it will go back into the league in the form of promitions and give aways for the upcoming league sessions. If we really look at the breakdown of all costs involved with the current session. Let\\\'s presume we have 10 teams $1500 - Total Team Signup Value (10 teams x $150) - $300 for the 2 promotional teams. (2x150) - $300 (estimated) trophy cost with shipping to all players - $400 Prize money That leaves $500 which covers the administrative costs, new development and upcoming prizes, advertisting, etc. For the league to succeed we to have some money in order to offer better prizes and cache funds. That means Cacheleague.com is keeping less than 1/3rd of the dues. Over 2/3rd of it is going back into the team and the players. We\\\'re quite proud of what we have and expect it to grow in the future offering players more prizes and better prizes. While we build funds we\\\'ll be using much of it to offer bigger and better prizes. Thanks and we hope to see you in the game! Then I have to enter in all the caches I do on this website, and enter them into GC.com. And if we get 1st we get a cash prize of 400.00? Where does the 1100.00 go? Seems to me that this guy is taking people to the cleaners.. I can't see paying money to create more work with caching. If he was keeping around 200.00 per session or even 400.00 per session, I could see it but he is trying to make too much off of this. I like the concept, but not the greed. I cache because it gives me something to do when I hike or something social. I hate entering logs into GC.COM and to think about entering them in 2 places? I am not surprised that Illinois and Michigan jumped on it as they do a lot of team activities in their local area. The 3 top cachers in Chicago also have a team but I couldn't get them down here to compete. If he would scrape the logs from GC.Com weekly and publish stats based upon that, I might be interested. Good luck though, it sounds like fun... Just too much on the backend for me to do and not enough given back to the cachers who do all the work..
