You could adapt the Beeswax PSOS example to do this, just web-enable it:
https://blog.beezwax.net/2014/04/21/100x-faster-flight-testing-filemaker-13-perform-script-on-server-part-ii/#more-473
In a nutshell, put an excel doc into a container, using external storage, it
drops out on server into import directory, and is then imported server side
(rapidly). One of the coolest FileMaker tricks of the last few years.

I have a client whose database (a half-dozen or so fields) gets regularly
updated with new records.
The client is asking if it would be possible for me to write something for
the web that would allow them to take a spreadsheet and import all the
records en masse.
In other words, it’d be great if I could write a PHP routine that would allow
the user to select an XLS file, then somehow read it and import the records
into FileMaker.
Has anyone done one of these?
I’m thinking that if it’s comma-delimited, I could simply have them select
the file, read the text into a variable, and then parse out the records.
Any thoughts from this august gathering?
