My question is the following :

you obtains 6x speed increase. This is very nice.

Is it possible to customise the periodical update (for exemple 15 ms
rather than 30 ms for the timer)

In the next futur, Apple inc and PC will run with more speed ( Penryn
and nehalem processors). It will be very nice to modify the time
interval of the timer according to the plateforme.

Think of this in terms of "frames per second". Above a certain
frame rate you will not be able to tell the difference. The trick
is to discover the frame rate where human perception is satisfied.
I will be performing tests to determine that frame rate, so you
don't want to be messing with it since you will gain no advantage.
In fact, you will just eat up more CPU time by making it faster
which is CPU time to do other things you want to do with the FTC
for no perceived increase in speed. So the solution I have
implemented is really independent of the speed of the CPU.
