Here's my friend's assessment of the good, bad and ugly of Peoplesound, as
promised ...
=== Peoplesound.com ===
= Good =
* Exposure: fast increasing. They have associated with some other music
providers and could become the biggest around Europe. Expansion to the rest
of the world is in progress.
* Interface: simple and easy.
* Music quality: high. They make a selection process, so they do not
accept anything without a minimun quality.
* Membership: free.
* CD program: good CD copy quality (audio & cover). Fast sending.
* Both mp3 download and streaming options available.
* Non automatic responses to artist support e-mail. Personal
attention.
= Bad =
* CD program: minimum price is quite expensive (7 pounds), benefits
for artist are a 1/2 CD selling price (this is not exactly true, because
they include shipment fee too, so artist get 1/3)
* You get no earnings for downloadings (at the moment)
= Ugly =
* Artist administration: restricted control on free track list. You
cannot set all tracks free for downloading.
= Very ugly =
* Some time ago, they promise a special reward for sending your music
before a certain date, in order to get a number of new artists. The money
never was sent to artist (including me)
