:: Deman Fiesta

There were a lot of volunteers at lab, and we disassembled a lot of computers. Unfortunately, I didn't count the boxes. We are running through old computers at a fast clip now, so fast that we are low on boxes to demanufacture.

I plan to meet with volunteers later this week or weekend to load the Loser Cruiser (87 Astro) with computers from The Barn. We need a fresh supply of boxes to recycle at the Sally.

:: Barn Supplies

Recycled parts are literally piling up at The Barn. We desperately need to obtain pallets and gaylords.

Not having pallets and gaylords in place will double our work. We are dumping the disassembled components on the floor. When we get gaylords, we'll have to shovel piled up parts into containers, carry them to the gaylords and dump them in...duplication of effort.

Any ideas where to get pallets and gaylords free or at reasonable prices?

:: Monitors and Copier at CC

Catholic Charities donated two Sun monitors which probably have the type of connector the SGI Indigo boxes require.

The CC also has a 21" or 25" Apple Mac monitor -- the thing is huge. I suppose it can be adapted to use with regular video cards. Does anybody know someone who might want it?

Lastly, the CC has a floor standing Epson copier to donate. It will require a moving dolly, at least two strong backs and a truck to get it -- we probably don't want to lay it on its side. Apparently it needs toner and a software driver. I'll ask if it works. We can get it next week during lab if we want it.

Any volunteers?

:: Frank and Judy Are Grandparents Again

Frank and Judy's daughter delivered an 8+ pound child by emergency C-section. The mother's blood pressure was dangerously elevated and the baby's BP dropped like a rock. Mother and child are fine now. I think Judy said the newborn is a female.

:: New Volunteers

Ross Cosner, Ryan Myers and Andrew Hromis are college students in computer related majors at IU and Purdue. The trio plans to donate time this summer to FreeGeek. Last night was their first visit. They had fun.

:: Olin's Shoulder

Olin's physical therapist thinks he has a torn rotator cuff. A specialist will examine the shoulder soon. Olin didn't miss lab because of his shoulder -- he had a plumbers meeting to attend.
