the graphic artist usually works with your ideas and develops them,
Sometimes it clicks the first time and sometime it takes more time. His
income is based on his time. I don't think its fair not to pay him for his
time. Perhaps you can ask him for a sign of good faith and ask him to
discount it but this is his currency. Unless it was for one job and you had
agreed upon a price and hours in advance I don't see how you can not pay
him( I can but that would not be the halachic or ethical thing to do).

What is protocol for the following scenario.
We gave our outsourced graphic artist a concept to work with and was
unable
to create a fitting design. And it happened a second time.
Only on the third attempt- again the idea coming from us - did the graphic
designer succeed.
Should we be billed for the hours of the first two unsuccessful attempts?
