Wow, I see people selling raffle tickets all the time. Try asking someone at
AACI. They sell (or used to sell) raffle tickets.

We were recently informed by our legal advisor that raffles are a criminal
offense in Israel, and that we may not hold them. Was anyone else aware of this
statute?



חוק העונשין מגדיר בסעיף 224 הגרלה כ: - כל הסדר שלפיו ניתן, בהעלאת גורלות או
באמצעי אחר, לזכות בכסף, בשווה כסף או בטובת הנאה, והזכיה תלויה בגורל יותר מאשר
בהבנה או ביכולת;


מי שמארגן הגרלה עובד עבירה על פי סעיף 225 לחוק: "המארגן או עורך משחק אסור,
הגרלה או הימור, דינו - מאסר שלוש שנים או כפל הקנס האמור בסעיף 61(א)(4)".



I'm interested to know if other organizations have found a loophole? Or if
there is some legal way to conduct a raffle? If so, please share.
