Your project sounds like a tough challenge, but that what makes them
all the more satisfying, right?
As for realistic role-playing games, you might check out YAGS, which
is geared for low-fantasy. It's designed and maintained by Samuel
Penn, one of the regulars on this list. The link is on the FRPGC's
website, under the Games section, or you can just go to:

There was a gratis game called DragonSpawn that was meant to be very
realistic, and it looked promising, but now the site has no links to
download it... maybe I should e-mail the guy.
