Many thanks for the above suggestion - I've been enjoying grep immensely. To create a new text file with all of the yahoo.com addresses removed, shouldn't the command line read: grep -v "yahoo.com" test.txt > test2.txt The one you suggested created a list of all the yahoo.com addresses, but did not remove them from the original file.
