DHCP: In a word, don't, unless you really have a good reason to. You
shouldn't need to on a lab/test network. Not worth the hassle for a test,
and you sure don't want the IP address being yanked out from under you in
production.

/etc/netmasks: No need to edit unless you have non-default netmasks (e.g.,
more than 24 bits for a 192.168). Mine has nothing in it and the system
figured it out.

It can be as simple as choosing a hostname (don't use the same one as your
WP letterbug), entering it into a /etc/hostname.<if> file, where <if> is
the hardware name of your interface, making an entry for the WP and the
APC box in the WP's /etc/hosts file, maybe "ifconfig <if> plumb"-ing the
interface, then rebooting.

[foxboro] connecting IA 6.3 to a network using secondary ethernet port for
an APC application

hi all knowing list
   I am trying to do a test setup of IA 6.3 (solaris 2.5.x) on a WP51D. I
need to connect this to a advanced application (APC ) in company lab
network
via a secondary ethernet port. Can some body help me with some pointers on
this front.

some specific inputs i am looking for are
              - how to configure DHCP on the machine ( do u need to
configure it at all)
              - what are the changes that need to be done on the
/etc/netmasks file
              - what are the changes that need to be done on the hosts
file

the ethernet port is a Twisted-Pair 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Interface with
MII
Connector PCI Card.

thanks in advance
Pavan
