Hi Joe,
What information do you need from the UNIX stations that is not collected by
Ferret?
One option would be to run the SAR scripts, if loaded these would be in
/opt/fox/bin/remote. The top level script is called diag_start51, it calls a
variety of other data collection scripts and you end up with a rather large raw
data file which contains all system information. The down side is you would
been to extract the information you need from the large text file.... Take a
look, maybe you only want to run one of the smaller scripts to just collect the
info you need.
Christian.

Scott,
I am still trying to hunt down Gene Bradford (per Paul Gunther) to confirm it
is included in our Service Agreement, then if it is I will try to schedule the
Service Rep....
The background behind this request is that I have been assigned the task of
documenting 2 non-GMP IA Nodes for possible future validation. In reviewing
the User's Guide, Rev A, February 27, 2014, I/A Series® System FERRET V6.0
(Windows® Platforms) and FERRET V6.0 (UNIX® Platforms), it itemizes about a
dozen types of hardware and software data that it collects for the Windows®
Platforms that I could probably use as a start. However, it is severely
lacking in details for the UNIX® Platforms. Is there similar types of data
collected, so I could use the same list from the Windows® Platforms for the
UNIX® Platforms (minus the obvious differences; i.e., switches, etc.) to
describe the data I would collect?
Next, much like Foxray, it appears that ferret uses standard Foxboro utilities
and tools already installed (i.e., frev, remd, remv, som, rsom, glof, etc.) to
collect the various types of data. The only new software package that is added
to the main AW is the ferret directory/folder (UNIX vs. Windows) and software;
correct? And this directory/folder can then be deleted when done to remove the
ferret footprint on the AW, returning it to its original condition; correct?
Maybe it's not that simple but I need to understand these details before
proceeding.
If anyone has a better idea, please feel free to offer it up...

Joe,
If the site has a service agreement , running ferret periodically
(typically once a year) is typically included in the service
agreement.

Scott

Why is it necessary to pay for a Service Rep. to run this utility???

Joe,
Since this site has a service agreement, The best thing to do would be
contact the Service Rep. or District Service Manager or
GSC to schedule a ferret collection using the latest collection tools.

Scott

Scott, et al
I have the info I needed from frev but... I have to collect more info on the
hardware and software installed on these systems for validation record.
I would like to use ferret and remv/remd but I cannot find a manual reference
for remv/remd so not sure what data they collect.
I tried to run ferret on the AW51Es V6.3 and I get "ksh: ferret: cannot
execute"; on the AW70s V6.4 I get screen pop up that tells me that "To obtain a
site ID contact the GCS webmaster ips.csc.web@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".
What gives with ferret? It is installed on our systems, we have a maintenance
contract...

That utility would only be present if someone loaded the Foxwatch scripts
sometime in the past.

Subject: [foxboro] Utility/Tool
Folks,
What is the name of the Foxboro Utility/Tool that would collect all of the
hardware details; model #s, EEPROM revision, etc. In the good old days of
freeware it was included in the IA Software but I think it is now bundled in
some of the maintenance contracts. For the life of me I cannot think of its
name except it maybe begins with an F? If someone could please refresh my
memory and maybe where it is located on AW51Es V6.3 and AW70s V6.4.
It is Hell getting old. Memory is the 2nd thing to go.
Thanks
