I think that many of the legacy users (those of us who have had I/A since
nearly the beginning) who are heavily invested in Unix feel that we are
reaching the end of the line for innovation on that platform. What
concerns us "Unix fiends" is that
1) we feel like we are having to abandon a superior platform for an
inferior (and less proven) one, and
2) that we like the features that the new tools have and would like to see
them available for the investment we have already made in I/A.

The OS used by the application is one factor in whether something is
compelling or not.
As for being forced to the new OS because new applications are being built
for a different OS, if you like what you have, we are continuing to
support
it.

Alex,
I believe you are sincere in this belief. But at the same time, from a
customer point of view, how can one not be a tad bit cynical when the
only applications being developed are specific to one OS. That would
make them compelling by default, wouldn't it?
