Jaime,

I'm not sure what you mean by "better", Modbus is very good for huge numbers
of registers - 5000 by the looks of it (for the ProSoft module) whereas
Profibus is good for speed - 12 MBaud if you want. Both can run over long
distances because Profibus is RS485 and Modbus can be made RS485.

There are some little things you need to be aware of when dealing with
Profibus. The first is the maximum limit of 244 BYTES in or out, less if you
want info going both ways. The second issue is that old bugbear of grounding
and network termination, critical if you want to use a Baud rate faster than
1.5MB.

I have generally wanted volume of data when connecting to PLCs, so I would
tend towards Modbus.
