Oleochemical From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Oleochemicals are chemicals derived from biological oils or fats. They are analogous to petrochemicals which are chemicals derived from petroleum. The hydrolysis or alcoholysis of oils or fats form the basis of the oleochemical industry and use the same oleochemical general formula: RCOOCH2-CHOOCR-RCOOCH2 + R´OH → RCOOR´-RCOOR´-RCOOR´ + CH2OH-CHOH-CH2OH (bio-oil or fats) + R´OH →(Fatty acids or esters) + Glycerol The hydrolysis of the triglycerides composing oils and fats produces fatty acids and glycerol. In hydrolysis R´= H. So water (H2O) is added: RCOOCH2-CHOOCR-RCOOCH2 + H2O → RCOOH-RCOOH-RCOOH + CH2OH-CHOH-CH2OH If oils or fats are made to react with an alcohol instead of with water, the process is alcoholysis and the products are fatty acid esters and glycerol. In alcoholysis R´= alkyl group. So alcohol is added: RCOOCH2-CHOOCR-RCOOCH2 + CnH2n+1OH → RCOOCnH2n+1-RCOOCnH2n+1-RCOOCnH2n+1 + CH2OH-CHOH-CH2OH -----Original Message----- From: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Johnson, Alex P (IPS) Sent: Monday, September 19, 2005 10:29 AM To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [foxboro] Oleochemical Okay, time for me to display complete ignorance again - I do so love doing that. :) What does one consider to be an Oleochemical plant? What does such a plant make? Anyone have an Oleochemical unit? From the root words, I get that it is a plant that makes a mixture (oleo) of chemicals, but that doesn't convey much useful information. One might also guess that it made oleomargine, but I doubt it. Suggestions? The way to find the number stations that you have SINK connections with = =3D and the number of stations that you have SOURCE connections with, is to = =3D use the rsom tool and the "conn" command and "sconn" command. Andreas is right in saying that only the # of = =3D =3D3D SINK data points are included in the Station blocks .PP_TOT Our CP = =3D3D shows 329 =3D3DA0Jim Murphy mentioned the only way I know how to find out all of = the =3D =3D3D sourced data points, and that is by using /opt/fox/bin/tools/rsom. As I = =3D =3D3D stated before, rsom indicates the SINK connections in it's "LOCAL" lists = =3D =3D3D and the "SOURCE" connections in lists labeled "REMOTE". The total size = =3D =3D3D on the "LOCAL" list can show more than .PP_TOT because the LOCAL lists = =3D =3D3D may have some bad or deleted values indicated by "No Response 0000" Our = =3D =3D3D "LOCAL" lists totaled 331, (SINK connections), but two were "No =3D3D Response" and thus .PP_TOT shows 329 for this CP. This CP "SOURCES" = =3D3D 1129 variables as indicated by the addition of all the "REMOTE" list = =3D3D sizes. In my previous note I was more interested in quickly knowing how many = =3D =3D3D Station-to-Station Peer to Peer connections we have, not the number of = =3D =3D3D SINK/SOURCE variables being passed. I guess Andreas wanted to know the = =3D =3D3D variables and rsom can provide that info.
