Dale,
Sounds like the sys alarms are caused by the "islanding" of the server (CPU
100%).
You're using the "approved" Schneider virus list? Do you have the last patches
installed?
We're not having problems updating the virus list (I don't do it every week
though), but we did experience problems on one station during the scan. Seemed
a folder was not in the McAfee "exclusion" list. After "exluding" this folder
from the scan we didn't experience the 100% CPU load anymore.
Are you sure you're only doing an list update or is it also doing a complete
scan?
Rgds,
Dirk

Dale,
The best known cure for this is an upgrade to multi-processor/multicore
Foxboro tested machine and OS.
For those that are not aware of this, It is OK to order a V90/H90 with
multi-processor and use it on the FECN
(Foxboro Evo Control Network) ( the new name for "The Mesh").
Restrictions are minimum V9.1 CCS. Yet another good reason the upgrade
those old Workstations and Servers.
Multi Processor is the dual processor option
Multicore is turned on by default from the factory (in the OS and BIOS) with
the H90/V90-G9 and H92-440
Regards,
Scott

Subject: [foxboro] McAfee Updates on P91 Server
All knowing list.......
I have a P91 Running IA Version 8.6 on Windows Server 2003 R2 and McAfee 8.7i
with Patch 5 installed and 5800 Engine. Whenever I do updates of SDAT Files
(Manually once a week) I get System Alarms and 100% usage of the Single Core
Processor. System Alarms are always related to the switches. I would like to
be able to set this Station up so as to Auto update but Operations would not
like having system alarms come in and also not being able to use this terminal
(Running 10 RDP's) while at 100 % CPU Load (Up to 5 minutes) while virus def's
being updated. Does anyone have a work around for this? Load sharing on CPU
tricks or the like when updates are taking place? Priority in running updates,
etc. or do I just have to live with this?
Thanks in advance.
