Nigel, Depending on what hardware you are getting for the I/A you can do several things. 1) get an integrator for the AB PLC5 (which we do for our boiler BMS)(disadvantage - communicates across the nodebus) (suspect if there are DCS network issues) 2) get an FBM224 (communicates directly with the Control Processor)(disadvantage - not redundant) 3) If you're at the latest hardware and software versions you can use a FDSI (Field Device system Integrator) (it communicates directly with the CP and is redundant) That's about the extent of my knowledge. I'm sure your account or field service rep can help. Regards, Michael L. Jaudon TRONOX, Inc. Hello List, At our plant we are considering a boiler control upgrade and the BCS =3D would be upgraded to the Fox I/A. However, the BMS is an AB PLC5 system =3D and the decision to be made is whether to replace it and implement = in =3D I/A system or use an integrator. Does anyone have experiences with this sort of integration? What are the pros/cons. Cost would be a factor in the decision making process - however, =3D reliability is key.
