Duc, I have seen several times the /etc/hosts and /etc/netmasks files with no symbolic links to the /etc/inet/hosts and /etc/inet/netmasks files. That's why every time I need to do changes to these files I change the files in the /etc directory. After that, I have the files in the /etc directory with different information respect to the files in the /etc/inet directory. I checked the Sun docs and they say that the symbolic links is used for compatibility with the BSD-based operating systems. In my case, I have never had a problem because of this but I really want to know why the symbolic links were broken. If you follow the instructions given in this archived message: //www.freelists.org/archives/foxboro/01-2003/msg00092.html which is essentially what I wrote earlier, there is no need to edit the /etc/rc* files. One strange things happen. The 2nd Ethernet port works fine for some time. Then the connection drops and I cannot ping = =3D =3D3D remote computer. When I see from "ifconfig -a" The 2nd Ethernet port goes to POINT TO POINT instead of broadcast. Also My given netmask is not reflected in "ifconfig -a". Same is the case with broadcast address. But still it communicates for a while. Can you help on this. For your gateway use /etc/defaultrouter. You may have to create the file defaultrouter if it's not already present. I don't have an F box so you shouldn't trust me, but I believe the procedure is the same.
