Slim,
Re: Are our FBMs intrinsically safe
They are not intrinsically safe; we do not offer control system FBMs are
intrinsically safe.
Re: How can you tell if they are IS
If they were, the PSS would document that fact and they would carry the
appropriate markings.
Re: FBMs and Intrinsic safety
If you want to use our FBMs in a situation where intrinsic safety is required,
you must use IS barriers. There are multiple manufacturers of IS barriers and
they offer a variety of mounting solutions.
Re: Your recent questions and how to get help
It appears that you are doing an 100-Series FBM migration to 200-Series FBM
migration and want to use the HART capabilities of your transmitters when doing
this migration. It also seems that you want to add intrinsic safety.
This is a pretty complex topic and not one well suited to an e-mail list.
If you will send me your proper contact information (name, company, company
email, location), I'll get you in touch with someone who can help you find the
resources you need.
Send the information to alexander.johnson@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Alex

Subject: [foxboro] FBM100 and FBM200 are IS: Intrinsic Safe ?
Dear list,
We have in our system the FBM100 series ( FBM04, FBM01…) we hope to upgrade
using the upgrade kit to FBM200 series, we like to use HART FBM such FBM214b
and the FBM204b.
My questions is:
-difference between IS and NIS (NON IS), and how know wich one is IS and NIS?
-If our FBM100 noze provide IS barriers?
-if the conception of the FBM100 is a IS how can I distinguiche IS from non NIS
loop?
-analog HART FBM prvide IS ?
-when we upgrade using the FBM100 upgrade kit with the HART FBM (
FBM214b…) what we should add to the IS loop ?
IS: Intrinsic Safe
