We have several S7 systems connected with FBM230 and even one redundant S7 with FBM231, standard Modbus protocol, not latest FBM driver (no FBM 224-like options, so it needs contiguous modbus addressing on the Siemens side (no gaps, or fill these with dummies). Need special modbus license dongle on the Siemens communication card! Patrick Martens Total Raff. Ned. I tried serial FDSI to S7 a couple years ago, but their "standard" Modbus was anything but - the integrator wrote his own Modbus because he thought that Siemens charged too much for its driver. We had to use FBM224 to make it work. At any rate, if you can set up a bench test, you should have no trouble. The new FDSI Modbus driver allows for FBM224-like configuration. I should be trying this in Lab before too long as Siemens S7 is our PLC of choice. From what I saw on the AB side (we talk to a Solar Turbine using a ProSoft TCP/IP module) it is standard RTU Modbus and didn't require any special drivers. ************************** Troy Brazell DCP Midstream ISA CCST Sr. Process Control Analyst Office 405-605-3877 Cell 405-301-2994 tlbrazell@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ************************** -----Original Message----- From: foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:foxboro-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Badura, Tom Sent: Thursday, September 02, 2010 12:23 PM To: foxboro@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [foxboro] Control Logix 5000 with an Integrator 30B [more info] A little off subject, but maybe a good time to throw this out. Has anyone used the FBM232 to talk TCP/IP to Siemens S7 PLCs? Does Foxboro support and provide software for communicating with Siemens S7s or only the Rockwell AB stuff?
