I used the CP overload and FB/CP load trends to pursuade management to
upgrade to ZCP270's before we started a project involving a lot of I/O's
and extra automation. A simple extrapolation/simulation based on I/O and
IND's etc we added during the last year before the upgrade, showed the
CP/FB load would exceed limitations as desribed by Foxboro. You could
easily see an increase in overloads and load on the simulation.
In our case this ment upgrading to mesh and ZCP270, because we were
strictly unix - CP60 before. For a small site like ours this was a major
investment, but compared to the total price of the project, the upgrade
cost was reasonable (thanks to advantage upgrades)

Upgrading to ZCP270's went smooth, we were never happy with the CP60's
anyhow....

Even if management does not understand anything about I/A, they usually
understand graphs....

Rgds,

Dirk

Don
i'm on IA 7.1.1 + CP60 too and currently in the midst of justifying CP
upgrade to my management.

pls find sample CP loading sheet for existing CP60 vs upgraded CP270 for
my
plant.

details of the calculation - u have to refer docs mentioned by Alex below.
