Hi list, Our application constitutes of an Invensys Foxboro DCS with the following technical characteristics: Z-Module Control Processor 270 (ZCP270), FCM100Et Redundant Fieldbus Communications Module, Mesh network configuration. For that specific installation we have experienced the problems listed below: 1. Spurious FCM fail/not fail system alarms and consequent FCM role switch have been reported. 1. Random incorrect FBM I/O readings have been observed, mainly concerning digital input signals (module FBM217). Indeed, there were found some FBMs 217 that sometimes "loose" the contacts for 1 cycle (all contacts reported to be in "off" state). This happened not on regular basis and we could not detect any special process event that was related to this anomaly. Seeking for a solution, we had thoroughly checked all interconnection cables which are terminated at the cabinet where the spurious signals monitored as well as the rest marshalling cabinets. Generally all these checks related to field wiring connections as well as the power supply distribution were generally satisfying. Therefore, we are almost convinced that the cause of spurious signals generation was either a hardware problem or an erroneous system configuration. Have you ever experienced any related problem or a situation similar to the one analyzed above? If yes, what actions have been realized in order to eliminate the problem and furthermore to ensure that it will not happen again?
