Dear list users,
Anbalagan asked:
Can anyone help me how to convert iccprt to loop diagram for visualizing the
loop for documentation purposes?
I'm not aware of a tool that can do this directly with iccprt files, but there
are ways to create nice looking loop drawings with using some standard
functionality available without having to draw them manually:
* FoxCAE can do this, however we've stopped selling this in June 2009 and it is
in "OBSOLETE" lifecycle status since Sept. 2020, so there is no support for
this anymore. It has not been tested on current operating systems and with
current Foxboro DCS versions, so there will be compatibility issues at least,
not to speak about cybersecurity concerns. The underlying database also is out
of support from the vendor (Microsoft) since many years.
* The current Foxboro DCS control editor environment supports a straightforward
ICC SaveAll import and generates reasonably usable graphical control loops that
you can edit, print, save as PDF or even animate with real-time values from the
CPs to debug them on the running plant, all as standard features. As a
prerequisite an update to a more contemporary Foxboro DCS version of some part
of your system bringing the Galaxy Engineering Server is required. Your CPs and
CP hosts eventually can remain in place without being touched, depending on the
version scenario and with additional effort to be planned upfront.
* As an add-on to an existing Foxboro DCS and also to older I/A Series systems
you could install System Advisor (formerly known as System Auditor or foxray),
which can retrieve configuration and other information from the Foxboro DCS and
do all kinds of interesting stuff with that, one is to generate graphical
representations from CALC blocks, sequence blocks and control block loops, all
fully automatic. System Advisor is a current, preferred and maintained standard
product that we fully support going forward. It can also deliver a multitude of
other values to your organization.
Contact your Schneider Electric representative for more information or a demo
on the latter two.
Let me know off the list if you have any questions.
I hope this is not misunderstood as advertising (although it is a little bit to
some point). ð
Thanks!
