I've got involved in a recommissioning of an old plant, basically with
no supporting documentation for I/A (8.5) or FoxView (10.2.2). There are
4 environments available, operators have been using one for engineering
in the past. When we instructed them to use the one for Operators,
manual operation from faceplates became blocked ("Setting Process
Variables Disabled" message when trying to ramp or enter a value). As
said, this is an old system and there's no background information or
documentation available & no one has Foxboro background. While the whole
idea of manual operations being blocked in Operator environment is very
strange, are there any hints what could be done?
