[foxboro] EXP with negative base in CALCA

Hello,
is there any reason why doing an EXP of a negative base in a CALCA block
(haven't tried MATH or CALC) yields a PROG_ERR 9?
Did I miss the lesson in school that taught negative bases are invalid?
