Capital suggestion Mike. Why don't you run for congress and make this your

My humble opinion is in agreement. convert. I had this discussion partly at
Mikey's birthday party with Walter, former deputy sec of commerce who now heads
an international weights and measures organization. He surprised me with the
fact that US was a participant in blah blah blah event that invented the metric
system in 1790 (or did he say 1890?) ... I surprised him with the fact that
I-?? from Tucson to Mexico mile post signs were in kilometers (first time I
drove it, i was surprised at how fast the miles were going by). I mighta
learned more but our attention got refocused to the momentary relevant
birthday. Deb and I used to drive to Mexico for cheap Kahlua when we ran low
... those years when we spent a couple January weeks in Tucson. DP

I've watched the president say several times on preparations briefings for the
hurricane hitting Florida, that they have sent more than a million liters of
water for disaster relief.
Liters, not gallons or quarts, but a metric unit of measure. This caught my
attention. Americans have fought using the metric system, vehemently for ever.
So why is the president saying this? I suspect that there are bottles of
water that are actually 1 liter in size, and a not quart.
I suspect the common sense of using metric measurements is quietly sneaking up
on us. A good thing in my humble opinion.
