There are a lot of civilian heroes here with all the aid that is flowing
in to support the refugees, but a special shout-out should go the Polish
people for their unbridled generosity to the refugees.
The city of Fort Wayne has a "sister city" in Poland and Fort Wayne has
set up a website that allows people contribute directly to our sister
city's refugee relief efforts.

These are great ideas. A RI furniture co collected tons of clothing, diapers,
medical supplies and toiletries. They had so much they had to turn people away.
It arrived in Warsaw yesterday. Jane

Sherie, I did see that - lots of creative ideas. Saw a short TV spot about a
Rockford middle school that came up with an idea in Social Studies class to ask
teachers to submit pictures of their pets. They then were made into trading
cards with bio of the pet and sometimes even a paw print. Then students could
get a trading card for each dollar they donated to help in the relief effort.
Became really popular with staff (and others) wanting the trading cards (and to
help out!) I think the idea behind Ukrainian beer is because many (most??)
of their breweries were switched over from producing beer to producing Molotov
cocktails.

There are a couple of Wisc breweries doing that as well. One or two in Green Bay
& one in Oshkosh. A good fundraiser!
And, another fundraiser is from the Door County Candle Co. A small company owned by a
Ukrainian lady & family decided to make a 16 oz candle in the Ukraine colors with a
vanilla scent in a glass jar for $29.95. Initially she hoped to sell 300 & is donating
all profits to a Ukraine charity she is familiar with. As of this past weekend, she sent
first donation of $125,000 to the charity & has had over 30,000 orders. She was
featured on tonight’s David Muir national news on ABC. If you have any interest, Google
Door County Candle Company.
