Well Penny, here is Al's story. Right atter Thanksgiving 2020==midst of
Covid-- I dropped Al off to have his knee replaced. I was not allowed to
visit--only to pick up in 3 days. Talked to him every day--doing great--until
I was called to pick him up--running a 103.5 temp and the nurse was happy as it
had been 105~~ I was livid. They told me it was not Covid. So he stayed
another night and then was sent home--temp and all--that was my biggest problem
with him. He rigged up this belt so he could swing his leg over the bed--then
called me to go to the bathroom. He always after the first day home went to
the living room to watch tv and eat. He had a walker and really practiced
walking--did the PT after one week and really made super progress. I was
impressed. He was back in the tractor after 3 weeks--not that I thought he
should.
So do what the PT people say and just get off the drugs as soon as you can.
You will do great--you are a Pretzel--oh, and I did test positive for Covid on
Saturday--I picked him up on Wednesday---you figure out if he had Covid or
not!!! I do believe he did.
Pam

Penny, you have a good memory! My new knee arrived way back in 2015. I
think they already have better ways of doing them too - plus EVERY patient's
experience varies a lot so I don't know that I can tell you much! Yes, I did
stay out at the farm house a while but only because at my house, my bathroom
and bedroom are on the second floor while at the farm there is one bedroom and
a "potty" on the first floor. It wasn't too long until I could do the "toddler
step" on my stairs (one leg at a time on each step). Facing any surgery is
unsettling (at least to me!) but just think how great it will be once it's over
and done.

My grandmother used to say often, "It's hell to get old". Now I know what she

I’m sorry you are in so much pain, Penny. I hope you’re surgery appointment
will be moved sooner. May 10 is a long time to wait yet.
Is it correct that your daughter is in Ukraine? I hope she’s safe! Dena has a
Security company in Ukraine she had lots of people working for her. It is NOW
CLOSED. SHE COULDN’t risk her. Employees lives. There is no more office there.
She resides in Amsterdam with her husband it is very scary.
She has lived in Ukraine since she graduated from college 52 years ago.

We just booked our flights to Italy for a trip we've had to postpone twice!
We'll be there 2 weeks ( first half of May). Four nights on Lake Como. 4 on
Lake Garda, then 4 in Cortona, our home away from home in Tuscany. We're going
with another couple, our best friends and travel buddies.
I AM SO EXCITED!
