Hi All,I read an article that might explain why the Ukrainians likely embraced
the Nazis. Under Stalin, the Russians came into Ukraine and literally took all
of their grains and food stocks. They even took the seed stock for the coming
planting season. Ukrainians not only starved, but they also resorted to
cannibalism to survive. If you had a number of children and some were weak and
some still strong, some families slaughtered the weak ones to feed the stronger
ones. If someone died, that person became food. People committed murder for
food. There no longer are people of that period with those memories but the
Ukrainians have kept those memories alive to the next generations. I knew that
life under Stalin was tragic but had never seen this kind of detail of how
people survived.
When the Nazis invaded, I suspect that the hatred of Stalin was the motivation
whether than the embracing of fascism that led to the alliance with Hitler. Bob

You would have been well served had you watched it through to the end. The
further along this went the clearer it is that this is an unabashed, shameless,
outright pro-Putin piece of propaganda. It was well done though, so it is not
hard to watch, just not believable. It is a good example of how the media is
used to influence gullible viewers. You should be more careful with the company
you keep,

It's long. I watched only 30 minutes. Prior to WW II Russia had invaded and
annexed Ukraine and was brutalizing the population. So when Hitler invaded,
Many Ukrainians saw Nazis as liberators and joined the cause, even helping to
round up and kill Jews. This offers some explanation of Putin's use of the
word Nazi for Ukrainians. DP
