Nice Sign, Tom (Tommy)
I told you my daughter and I hiked there when she was here, not a long
hike but very diverse. It lets you know something happened in FH a long
time ago when you see the hills and even the dam.
I volunteered for the museum some time ago, and I read in the history,
the cowboys brought the cattle down to drink by the dam. I went off the
trail "don't tell anyone" looking for the area where they drove the cattle
down, I found some barbed wire down along below the dam. I thought this is
history, part of the old P Bar Ranch. I didn't want to just take it, it
was part of an old fence. So, I went to City Hall and asked for the Park
Director. I told him, "I am from the museum and would like to take some of
the old barb wire and put it in the cowboy exhibit at the museum. " He
looked at me like I was a little crazy and "Ma am, take anything you want!"
I went down with a wire cutter and cut out a section and when I was trying
to put it in a roll, I cut my hand. I couldn't remember when the last time
I had a tetanus shot, so I called over to FH Family Practice, they told me
to come right down and gave me a shot.
I appreciate all the work volunteers like you and the garden club do to keep
it open. Like I said, when you see the holes in the rocks and the huge
pieces of quartz, you know something happened a long time ago.
Keep up the good work but stay away from the barb wire.
