I know that 9.04 and above has everything that I listed on there except for
Wine and VLC and the restricted extras, the restricted extras are useful for
playing various audio and video formats. Wine because the new release now has
pretty good support for m$ based products, so that way if they were to buy a
game there is a chance that they might be able to use it, even though we tell
them that they will not work they still tend to buy them anyways.
As far as designing our own distro, I really do not see that as all we would be
doing is adding a couple of packages that are easily obtained through the
package manager.
The biggest thing that I think that needs to be put on to the freeboxes is the
Edubuntu package, after all we are giving these computers to families with kids
that are in school and the edubuntu package is nice. It has GCompris and a few
other software's in there.
As far as having to support the other packages: same as supporting anything on
the freebox, they need to come to a LUG meeting or start volunteering so that
way they can get the help that they want and need.

I can see updating the basic install at the warehouse and offering
additional packages, such as you list below, at FGMLUG. The policy would
keep the basic load small and uniform and provide an incentive to come
to FGMLUG for the extras. Adding additional packages to a basic Ubuntu
load means we have to support those packages and means we are designing
our own distro.
