John,
Do you really think this is an image file since NVDA can read it?
All the best,

Subject: [fb-exchange] Re: PDF
Hi Joan Ann,
Acrobat detects JAWS and does its best to give JAWS something to work with, but
if it can't find anything useful because the PDF file you're trying to open may
as well be a photograph of text, it gives up. Or just hangs. Acrobat is
notoriously buggy.
If a sighted user opened the same PDF file in Acrobat on your PC with JAWS
turned off, it would probably work fine, except you wouldn't be able to select
and copy text.
Recognise with JAWS does an OCR scan of the document and does a pretty good
job, but formatting such as lists and tables will be lost.
No prizes for guessing I don't like PDFs very much. I simply can't understand
their popularity.
John
