I'd suspect the ADC create security groups where they are used for
permissions, otherwise distribution groups BUT I've not had the time to
poke around and confirm that.

http://www.MSExchange.org/
I have a 2003 Native AD Domain replica in my Test Lab. I have gone thru
the installation of my first Exchange 2003 box, but I notice that some
of my 5.5 DLs are now 2003 UDGs, and some are now 2003 USGs. I would
like to figure out why......

Any help is appreciated.

When migrating 5.5 to 2003, what determines if a 5.5
Distribution List is converted to a 2003 Universal Distribution Group or
a Universal Security Group?
