Al - my profile loads just fine/quick on another workstation so it is down to
my own PC.
I guess I'm going to have to delete my Outlook profile/application on the PC
but am unsure how to do
this without uninstalling Office complely. I reckon a file corrupted when the
PC crashed with Outlook
open.

Have you tried with a new Outlook profile of just your mailbox (no add-ins,
no other outlook services, etc)? What was the result?
Have you tried your account on the machine where it works quickly? What was
the result?
It sounds more like a change was implemented on the desktop that didn't take
effect until reboot, but the above are pretty easy to try to rule out other
issues.

Do you use pst files?
I have one on a remote PC and defraging the disk improved the performance
dramatically. This was on a Win XP machine, built in defrag didn't defrag
pst
file with outlook closed but diskeeper did.
