Depending on when the change was made, it could take 24-48 hours at a minimum. Also depending of the TTL your previous provider had set up the domain, some caches might not drop it for days. FYI, I moved our dns hosting to network solutions. It was $49/yr and for an extra $24/yr (total $73), they'll provide backup mail for your domain(s) as well. The backup mail has saved me a couple times already in the past two months since we moved (1 power outage and 2 telco issues). If Network Solutions goes belly up, then I'd say more than just my domain has a huge problem. If you're interested, the site is www.dnsmanaged.com. Well, that meant that our DNS records for our domain was also wiped out. So...I found another hosting company and had them set up our dns again, including the mx record for our mail. I then went into Network Solutions and modified the Name Server records to point to our new hosting company's dns servers. I performed an nslookup using various name servers and they all failed to find a record for our domain. It's been over 18 hours since this change was made...does it normally take this long? As of right now, I'm currently unable to receive emails from the outside world....Please advise..thanks -chris -----Original Message----- From: Matt Neuherz [mailto:matt@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, August 28, 2003 8:08 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Permissions did not follow mailbox when moved to a new server http://www.MSExchange.org/ Thought I'd send again... have not seen any replies We are running E2K SP3 on W2K SP3. we have spun up a new server with the intent of replacing the old one.
