Hi Kenny, No no no no no! That is not true at all. That is a traditional approach to firewalls. Firewalls now have to work at layer 7 and go beyond the stateful packet filtering solutions we used in the past. I like ISA Server 2000 because it was designed with Exchange in mind, and has a lot of features aimed directly at the Exchange Server owner who wants to make Exchange 2000 services available to external network users. If you aren't publishing or hosting Exchange services, then ISA Server doesn't nessarily provide that much more functionality than any other firewall, since you're only interested in outbound access control. I would assume that a firewall should have only one real job, and that is blocking/allowing information to pass across ports and limites which local IP's get that information, if needed. Perhaps I am mistaken? --KM >-----Original Message----- >From: Chris Nielsen [mailto:cnielsen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] >Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2003 10:57 AM >To: [ExchangeList] >Subject: [exchangelist] RE: MSExchange.org - Real-Time Article Update > > >http://www.MSExchange.org/ > >"...it behooves you replace any existing firewall setup you >current have in place and use an ISA Server 2000-based >firewall offering." > >Is it just me or is that a simply ridiculous comment? > >-Chris > > >-----Original Message----- >From: MSExchange.org [mailto:info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] >Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2003 7:22 AM >To: [ExchangeList] >Subject: [exchangelist] MSExchange.org - Real-Time Article Update > >http://www.MSExchange.org/ > > > >Title: Publishing Exchange 2003 Outlook Web Access (OWA) with >ISA Server 2000 >Summary: ISA Server 2000 is the firewall of choice when >publishing Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003 services.
