I agree with you John, and I am not going to get into a battle of words.
I am just trying to be more proactive than the previous admin.  We will
be updating our server this weekend...with the necessary updates
available.  Also, you would be glad to hear, the we will be soon
updating all systems to the lastest OS as well as all apps to the latest
version.

PS - I have learned from the past not to jump on updates as soon as they
are available (although I do agree the SP3 should have been installed
longgggggggggg ago.)  It is not very smart to jump on updates without
testing it.

Sorry, my post stands. 

New admin or not, asking if a service pack that has been out for over 2
years should be applied or not says something about the person that is
asking.

It is like all those IIS admins out there and all those people talking
bad about MS when Code Red hit. Problem was, the patch that would stop
it was out 9 months before the outbreak.
