Hi Mike,
I should have added that I have performed a Defrag on the database, and
created a temporary database (didn't instantiate).
The database was reduced enough to allow it to start, and adding up the
number of users mailbox sizes, they add up to 3-4Gb, not 16Gb!
Hence I am going to create a brand new DB. Exmerge reports the resulting
data will take up 5.2Gb, this is after Single Instance messages are
split apart. Nowhere near 16Gb. Something is really broken in the
existing edb!
Any other idea's?

Hi all,
Long time listener...
I have a customer whose PRIV1.EDB has grown to 16Gb. The thing is the
mailboxes only add up to 3Gb, if you add them according to the Mailbox
sizes in Exchange Manager.
The system is an SBS system, and right now, under duress to get the
thing going again, Im going to exmerge the data, clear the current DB,
restart the store and let it create a new one, and exmerge the data into
the new store.
My questions are:
1) Does anyone know about this mysterious, and massive growth of the DB
as explained above?
2) Anyone got any better idea's?
