From: Iris Elish <granny@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: projects and process Shalom For the third year now I have been doing the project as a process with my class. I usually begin when I bring in projects done by other pupils. I let them look at them. The first project I do with them is usually on people of vision. We then discuss what areas or fields of study we can research when doing a project on a person. Sometimes I go with them to the internet to look at sites on famous people and look at the chapters or headings of paragraphs on these sites. I explain to them that by next week they will have to bring the name of the person they have chosen and the 3 chapters they want to write on. These could be historical background, biography and achievements. After I have approved their choice, they begin with the introduction, then first, second and third chapters. Then comes the conclusion. Each of these is done separately as a draft. In this way I get to help and direct them. If there is copying they have to redo their work. It works well. I do this over a period of about 6 months. Included is a page I give them along with others. I have put the one handout on the following site: www.esnips.com/web/granny-projects All the best, Iris. ----------------------------------------------- Issue #2 of The Rag is now online!!! http://www.etni.org/etnirag/ Add yourself / Update your entry to "Who's Who on Etni" http://www.boker.org.il/etni/whoswho.htm -----------------------------------------------
