I actually saw the wreck on the monitors when it happened. I was in the main
building, and watched the safety crew get mobilized. It was interesting. All
the pictures are here <http://myelcamino.net/cars/gt40/index.htm>. The
monitors are in this link <http://myelcamino.net/cars/RoadAmerica/index.htm>.
The bottom left picture shows the monitors. the lower middle monitors show
the car in the fence with tire barriers.

Basically, this is the place where most people lose control at Road America
I am told. It's called the "Kink", and it's a very high speed straight with
2 slight bends in it. This guy was taking the second bend too fast and hit
the wall on one side, lost control and went in to the tire barriers at the
turn in the end. There is a corner called Canada Corner after this Kink,
that Rich and I got a little sideways in about 10 minutes before. We were in
Group 1 (the fastest group) and this guy was in Group 2 of 5 different skill
and speed classes. The kink is well over 100 mph, and the main straight,
going uphill, we were over 160. The Noble, with 650 hp to the crank, and 550
to the wheels, at between 2100 and 2300 pounds, is a real rocket. We passed
the Ford GT's and 427 Cobras like they were standing still. They saw us
coming, and waved us politely past, then I watched them vanish in the rear
view mirror. What a ride. 0-60 in 3 seconds, 0-100 in 4. Look it up, there
aren't many things faster at any price. He has about $150-180K in it is my
guess, and the only things that can keep up, are race prepared Vette's with
carbon fiber everything and custom LSx engines costing half a million.

As it turns out, I was the last person to ride in the Noble at Road America
with Richard. The next day, Richard set the course record for a street legal
car. He bested the record the following Spring with it, but now drives a
Carbir exclusively with a Cosworth 4 cylinder engine. It gets better lap
times, but doesn't have the acceleration that the Noble has, and it is a
single seat car. This is an example:

Pictures of me and Rich.
his dad Stan who is my good friend. He is in the final stages with his
battle with Cancer. The whole family is going down to Puerto Vallarta to
spend some time together in a few days while he still can manage. I will be
calling them today before they go.

That's the story Rick!
