Very interesting. I did a little checking on the mean average temperature reported by that station. I realize that the mean of an average isn't very sound statistical practice, but for the purposes of this post it otta come close enough. If yer interested, there's all sorts of different numbers you could analyze. When I was in grad school, I developed a bald spot on top of my head from statistics. No kidding. When I started that semester, I had all my hair. When it ended (and squeaked out of the stats class with a B- cuz I bribed the teacher with a case of tonic water...it's a very long story that starts out with the original instructor being deported back to Hong Kong) I had a bald spot. Sorta like sunspots only different.

Anyway, looking at the data from wunderground, I found that the average temperature at that station showed a decreasing trend after a couple of years with higher averages. There's only 6 years' data to look at and that's far short of what should be used to draw a curve, but the thing it DIDN'T show was a warming trend. The temperatures are very close to what they were in 2005 and have been decreasing since a spike in 2007. The thing I gathered from the charts was a wider difference between high and low temps. 6 years ago, the highs and lows were only separated by a couple of degrees. This year and last there's about a 5 degree F difference. But it's only one month and over a short period of time, so draw yer own conclusions.

Aren, if yer around, ya might wanna enter the data points into a crunching program and do a Chi-Square analysis on them. I'm goin back to web site maintenance.

Yesterday I rolled out a new version of the website at www.target550.com I hope that one is stable for a while. Now I'm working on http://www.bonnevillenwreunion.com/ and http://www.saveourshipofstate.us/ which is the blogging project a friend came up with. I found out that I've been invited to the NorthWest Reunion as part of the Target 550 team. I'm very flattered and honored to be given this opportunity to meet some very big names in racing and to see the liner that's under construction.

Ok. My boss is telling me to get back to work.

Have a good one, y'all

Maybe you folks east of the Rockies should be careful what you wish for.
Right now, McMurdo , Antarctica is warmer than most cities in the Southeast.
Maybe 24 hrs of daylight haas a bearing on that.

37* and clear with a gorgeous sunrise this am (attached).

It's been up as high as 50 and pouring, so it's nice to have some cold/clear weather. We had one snow event that melted when it warmed up and rained on it overnight.

Those of you in the rest of the country stay warm and dry.

Down to 11 in some places here tonight. Did a little on the shower and about to upload pics.
