Ok pulled the trans replaced the pump and same prob. However I did find the builders put the TV boost valve in backwards and a couple pump vanes were real nasty. Looked liked used pump vanes. Trans shifts firm etc but has no power and the trans is lugging the engine. The sound is like when you turn a sprag that screetchy springy sound. So it looks like the stator one way clutch is holding for a little bit until it gets a little power to it then it screetches loudly and lugs the engine. So will order a converter tomorrow. I'll get a high stall stock rebuilt for it. About 150 to the door. I wonder if the one on there was really rebuilt or just thrown together... Probably been balooning some since my engine easily hits 5500 or more and coupled with a crap converter... Funny how people say TPI won't breathe up high but I can still hit 5500 in gear and it still pulls. No one believes my elky has just a 305 when they ride in it. However I am going through figuring out how I want to put the 5.3 in the elky... I can get a whole 5.3 or 6.0 drivetrain for less than a rebuilt 2004r. Hmm why on earth would I have a trans rebuilt... And brand new trannys for the trucks aren't that expensive now either actually less than many rebuilts.
